iCandy Apple 2 Pear Review by TLB

The iCandy Apple 2 Pear travel system is a single pushchair which can be converted to a double. There are numerous possible combinations for one or two children. The combinations for two children include:

  • 2 Car seats
  • 2 Newborn Nests
  • 2 Seats
  • 1 Car seat, 1 seat
  • 1 Seat, 1 carry cot
  • 1 Newborn Nest 1 Car seat

It is very quick and simple to switch between single and double mode, simply by adding in the connector unit. The unit simply slots into place and gives a click to indicate its connected. A great advantage is the wheel base does not need to be altered to accommodate going from single to double mode.

The units [seats etc.] are simple to remove by simply pushing in the button on the connector. This button also acts to recline the seat, giving multiple seating options for the comfort of the child. The top seat unit does at first glance seem rather high. However the iCandy Apple 2 Pear handles really well and whilst perception would state the unit should be unstable, actually the opposite is true. The high up positioning of the top seat gives extra room to the child underneath. There is adequate room for the child on the bottom, and due to the staggered approach of the seats they are able to see more than the back of the seat in front of them.

The basket is rather wide but not too deep, about the depth of a child’s cup. When the Apple 2 Pear is in double mode, it is rather tricky to get items into and out of this storage basket and therefore storage is reduced.

The adjustable handle has a great soft grip making it easy to push, especially over rough terrain. The handle is quick and simple to adjust by sliding the handle up or down accordingly. The Apple 2 Pear is surprisingly light in double mode and very easy to get up and down pavements. The handling and steering is excellent. With lockable front wheels the Apple 2 Pear makes light work of most terrains.

The Apple 2 Pear can be folded with the seat units still attached, or with one seat attached, or with all parts removed. Although the folding mechanism does take a little getting used to, practise makes perfect as they say and it soon becomes second nature. There is a slight flick involved after pressing the release button, but it only takes a handful of attempts to become accustomed to it. The Apple 2 Pear once folded fits easily into the boot of a saloon style car.

Best Buggy Edit: TLB’s beautiful children are aged 3 years 5 months old and 1 year 7 months old.
