Quinny Zapp v’s Limited Edition Quinny Zapp 3 in 1 Travel System

The Quinny Zapp is an iconic pushchair. It can be used with the seat fabric on, or with the fabric stripped off, with a Maxi-Cosi car seat, or even with a Zapp Xtra seat unit.

The Quinny Zapp 3 in 1 Travel System consists of a pushchair seat unit, a carrycot and a car seat which are all easily interchangeable. Its primarily aimed at young humans of short stature who wish to take their favourite friend with them.

The Zapp 3 in 1 Travel System offers a carrycot option which the standard Zapp doesn’t offer. We like that all the options are included in the 3 in 1 Travel System, whereas the standard Zapp only comes with the seat fabric. The car seat and Xtra seat are all additional options.

We love the unique white frame and ‘Pink Passion’ colourway of the Zapp 3 in 1 Travel System.

We prefer the 5 point harness on the standard Zapp. We were a little worried about the 3 point harness on the Zapp 3 in 1 travel system. We are sure that the safety of the occupants would be increased with a 5 point harness.

Both pushchairs have hoods, although these are fairly shallow.

Neither pushchair has a recline, but a new baby would be comfortable in the carrycot of the Zapp 3 in 1 Travel System.

Both pushchairs are surprisingly sturdy on 3 wheels, although both can be noisy to push on pavements. Neither is suitable for going off road, but both will manage our gravel and short grass.

There is no storage basket included on either of these pushchairs, although one is available for the standard Zapp, and various options (Peppa Pig & Waybuloo bags, straw baskets and lunchboxes) have been added onto the 3 in 1 Travel System with varying results.

The handle bars on both Zapp pushchairs are hard plastic – not the most comfortable handlebars to hold, but this is a small compromise to have 2 compact pushchairs with small folds.

The standard Zapp has a 3 step fold which folds down into a neat package with the seat fabric attached. The Zapp 3 in 1 Travel System needs the seat unit removing to fold, and then very simply slides down to nearly flat.

There seems to be ample room in both for the respective target user groups. Our small testers both look very comfortable in their respective seats.

Happy April Fool’s Day 2012!
