The iCandy Royal Tea Party

Best Buggy were absolutely delighted to be invited to a very special tea party on Tuesday: the iCandy Royal Tea Party!

This special Royal tea party was held to celebrate the luxury pushchair brand, iCandy, receiving the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. iCandy were recommended for this prestigious award which very difficult to win. It is only made to outstanding companies for selling quality goods and services overseas. With 30 international markets, and 900 stockists around the world, and offices in China; iCandy certainly are an global company.

The Lord Lieutenant was invited to the party, to represent the Queen. She presented the two iCandy CEO’s, Bradley and Warren Appel, with a specially engraved rose bowl and a framed certificate to commemorate the occasion.

iCandy had invited the families of their staff, along with other associated friends, to this very special tea party. It was a long journey for us, but we knew that iCandy always put 100% into their events, and this was no exception. The tea party was beautifully arranged, with very traditional English style and sophistication. Even the sunshine came out to make the event an absolutely perfect summer party.

We were met at the door with Pimms, drinks and deckchairs which were gratefully received after the long drive.
Large pink flowers stood sentinel on either side of the doorway into a very traditional  marquee, adorned with bunting. Inside were round tables, and white bamboo styled chairs. Each table had a beautiful china teacup and spotty napkins awaiting traditional English afternoon tea.

Little Miss BB disappeared to explore the garden, and emerged minutes later with her face beautifully painted. Master BB set about exploring the various traditional family games that were laid out. These included skittles, Jenga, Connect 4, toss a hoop, croquet and even a limbo pole! Master BB decided that he preferred to use the limbo pole instead of a croquet stick, and would not be persuaded otherwise!

After the award presentation, afternoon tea was served. This was a delicious selection of delicate sandwiches, cupcakes, tarts, scones with jam and clotted cream and more. Little Miss BB loved the marshmallows and strawberries on sticks; whilst Master BB found a novel way to use the sticks once their goodies had been eaten! An icecream cart full of delicious flavours and various toppings was too enticing not to try!
Master BB loved the live band who were playing. He danced along and copied the lead singer’s hand movements. He struggled when she waved her skirt around though! A shirt doesn’t quite have the same effect!

As the sun started to set, it was time to leave this beautiful party. Little Miss BB left with a handful of sweets and lollies whilst Master BB clutched a pot of bubbles.

Thank you VERY much to all at iCandy for inviting us to their special event. We felt highly privileged to attend, and it was wonderful to meet all your families and children. We all had a wonderful time.
