Baby Jogger Summit XC Review by Charlotte

Pros of the Baby Jogger Summit XC

The Baby Jogger fold – it makes it so much easier to haul about the house
The wheels are amazing, like pushing over glass
It handles long grass very well
Without the wheels, the Summit has the same size frame as the Baby Jogger City Mini
Handbrake and suspension work well
I need to get my Other Half to take it running to check the tracking – later models have improved tracking
Baby Jogger’s customer service! There was a problem with the hood, and from photos they worked out what it was and told me how to fix it.
Will take all Baby Jogger accessories

Cons of the Baby Jogger Summit XC

No raincover included in the price but that’s hardly a trauma
It’s big at first glance and feels quite heavy
No PE board in my model – I may cut one to fit as my daughter is little but likes to sit up

I live on a farm and my standard walking route covers broken concrete, rough stones and then a surfaced pushchair friendly path. I’ve done this route with the Herqules and the Urban Detour and it handled the best out of all of them. It has the suspension of the Herqules and the tyres of the Urban Detour. It also handled large tree roots very well.

I was worried that it may feel too wide, but it didn’t feel so.

Being very picky, the shopping basket is small. I suspect I am one of the few who will actually take it shopping as I plan to walk into town off road, but hamster bags would sort that out. (*EDIT* BB believes that the City Mini basket fits onto the Summit which is slightly larger.)

The handle is different to the City Mini – it sticks further back and is flat rather than arched. It feels very comfortable, even though it is fixed. Someone shorter may struggle, but my other half is taller than me and he found it comfortable.

It seems to have the good Baby Jogger quality – it doesn’t squeak and clunk over rough ground.

The wheels are fairly easy to pop on and off and I suspect I will store it like this.

So far I’m delighted with it. I’ll try it on a more challenging walk soon, where I really struggled with the Urban Detour and report back!

Many thanks go to Charlotte for the photos and review.
