Mamas & Papas Sola v’s iCandy Cherry

This photoset is of the Mamas and Papas Sola side by side with the iCandy Cherry.

I have to be honest and say that photos do not tell the whole story and that we found the iCandy Cherry a much better pushchair to use.

The Mamas & Papas Sola felt long to push (although the photos don’t really show this but during our testing the Sola got wedged turning a sharp corner – where no other pushchair has got stuck!); the recline is a squeeze button one which was incredibly hard to do; each time the hood was pulled up, the seat recline also came up; the fabrics were poor quality; the fold was large; the front of the chassis scratched during folding; the footrest is in a poor position for a toddler; the Sola didn’t freestand when folded and is large folded and bulky to lift; parts were starting to rust. The positives are that the seat does lie flat from the hinge and the seat is suitable for use from birth without the requirement for a carrycot; and it does fold as one piece when the seat is forward facing. All round to be honest we were happy when the Mamas & Papas Sola left us.

The iCandy Cherry in comparison was lovely to push; it felt neat and tidy; the recline was two handed but easy to do; the seat is a bucket seat, so therefore a carrycot is required from birth to 6 months; the hood lifted up well and looked tidy; the Cherry although being a 2 part fold, was easy to do and the chassis was very light and freestands when folded; the chassis can also be pulled along behind you; the basket is large and accessible; there is a fully adjustable footrest which is great for babies; the Cherry is very easy to push and enjoyable to use. All round the Cherry has the quality and attention to detail which is lacking in the Sola.

We strongly recommend that you read our full reviews on both these pushchairs, and also try them out in a shop before buying.
