Phil&Teds Promenade Review by LB

I bought the Phil&Teds Promenade in January whilst on a trip abroad. Unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed and very much regret this purchase.

I am currently pregnant and so am using the Promenade as a single. Within a minute in the seat, my 20 month old had bent down and bitten off a chunk of the foam bumper bar across the Promenade toddler seat which has left a hole and several teeth marks. I have had to cover the bumper bar to prevent her biting off any more pieces and choking.

My daughter is not very tall but already her head touches the top of the Promenade hood canopy and her feet hang over the metal edge of the footrest and so the metal edge presses into the back of her legs. The raincover doesn’t fit over her unless she has her knees bent right up.

Folding the Promenade is difficult to do and almost impossible whilst being pregnant.

The Phil&Teds Promenade is impossible to steer. It is very difficult to manoeuvre. Keeping in a straight line is difficult and turning is a real struggle. I need to be able to push the Promenade with one hand at times eg when shopping or as my toddler gets older and wants to walk more, but there is no way I can push the Promenade one handed.

The Promenade is quite wide compared to other Phil&Teds pushchairs which is making getting the Promenade through doors a real struggle.

Although this pushchair has only been used for 2 months, the wheels already look worn and I am not sure how much longer they will last.

I am worried that the pushchair that the extra weight will make the Promenade unstable and unusable and that I will not be able to steer it.

There is very limited storage space once the second seat is attached.

The main reason I bought the Phil&Teds Promenade was to allow my toddler to sleep in a lie flat position with the baby in a bassinet at the same time – as both seats can be reclined flat on the Promenade to allow this. However the benefits of this sleeping position (which I would rarely use) are far outweighed by the negatives. I would not recommend the Phil&Teds Promenade and I have been enviously looking at my friends tandem pushchairs which are narrower and seem easier to use.
