Mountain Buggy Swift with Children

The Mountain Buggy Swift with the children in the seat. The girl is aged 3.6 years old and is 102cms (tall for her age), and the boy is aged 20 months old and is average height at 81cms.

As you can see from the photos, the girl really is at the maximum age to use this pushchair. Her head is just touching the hood and her knees are looking a little bent. But I would say she is still comfortable in the Swift at present. Her feet do sit nicely on the footrest, but I have seen her stretch her feet out and place them on the bar above the front wheel, which may be better for her to do. The wheel is well tucked under the front axle, so her having her feet on the bar shouldn’t be an issue.

The boy has lots of room. As the photos show, there is sufficient recline on the seat for him to be able to nap sat upright if like in our photos he falls asleep quickly and you didn’t realise! There is a full lie flat recline (shown in the empty pushchair photoset) which is very easy to do by pulling two toggles down and reclining. Pushing the child back up after the recline was more problematic as it needed a push as well, so I had to adjust one side, and then the other whilst pushing with my hand or my knee!

The harness is extremely difficult to adjust. It involves removing the fabric off the frame and even then we were unable to access the middle harness setting, hence the harness is a bit too high for our son. It didn’t pose any issues – we felt he was safe. I believe that although the harnesses on the latest Swifts are meant to be easier to alter, that they are still very difficult and take some time to do. I hope Mountain Buggy put their new twist and ssystem onto the Swift in future.
