Bugaboo Cameleon³

Bugaboo have announced the long awaited news that their 2012, 3rd generation Cameleon³ is on the way.

The iconic all terrain, travel system, Bugaboo Cameleon just got better and easier to use!

The third generation Cameleon³ will be faster and easier to open due to a redesigned locking system. Unfolding will simply require lifting the handlebar with ONE hand, thus making the wheels kick out. The chassis will be quickly locked – even without the seat unit in place – and then the seat, carrycot or car seat can be popped on and used.

The Bugaboo Cameleon³ chassis itself has been improved and streamlined to make it look more sturdy and sleek. The connecting joints have been newly constructed and over 90% new parts will make the new Bugaboo 3more solid. The central joint parts will be matte black which brings the new 3rd generation Cameleon in line with the Bugaboo Donkey and Bee.

There is a new sliding adjustable harness with thicker straps and more padding on the Cameleon 3. The harness looks very similar to the Bee and Donkey ones!

The Bugaboo Cameleon³ carry handle / bumper bar will be hinged to make it much easier to access a child.

The Cameleon³ handlebar will have six setting steps to it with grooves to make it easy to adjust.

There will be quick release wheels on the Cameleon³ – lovely off-white coloured release buttons instead of paperclip type pins. The bits that stick up above the front wheels on the 2nd generation Cameleon have gone and the top of the wheel sockets is now flatter. The foam tyres have been improved.

The Cameleon 3 carrycot will be flat fold with a one handed release. The hard support strips, which make the current Cameleon carrycot solid at the ends, are now sewn into the fabric and are magnetic. Therefore a quick pull of the velcro will release these and the carrycot instantly folds flat. We travelled a lot, and I was always worried about losing these support strips, so the integration of these is fab!

There will also be a larger underseat basket to provide additional storage which is always welcome here! The new Cameleon³ underseat basket will press-stud on rather than velcro on.

There is a new intuative braking system.

The wrist tether strap on the handlebar will be quite a bit shorter.

The Bugaboo Cameleon³ will be available with a sand, dark grey, black and dark brown bases with 8 tailored fabric choices. There will be a new petrol blue colour, and orange.

The chassis has been improved and is stronger with no additional weight increase.

All current generic accessories will fit the new Cameleon³  ie the hoods, tailored fabric, cupholder, parasol, seat liner, footmuff, wheeled board, organiser, Bugaboo tray and transport bag. However the new tailored fabric sets on the Bugaboo Cameleon³ specials will say Bugaboo Cameleon³ on the label. There will be All Black Cameleon³ specials available in September 2012.

We have been told that the new Cameleon³ will be available from 3rd September 2012 in the UK. The retail price is apparently going to be the same as the Generation 2 Bugaboo Cameleon at approx £770.
